More than 85 dancers and 200 spectators came together to celebrate community street dance on Sunday.
The annual Step up and Dance festival – organised by Inspiring healthy lifestyles on behalf of Wigan Council, in partnership with Wigan and Leigh Homes – took place at The Rose Club in Hindley.
Performances included street dance and contemporary routines from Inspiring healthy lifestyles, Wigan Athletic Community Trust and Dance LEIGHders groups.
A raffle was held with prizes donated by local businesses including Empire, AMF, Costa, Uncle Joe’s, Atherton Roller Rink, Wigan Warriors, Wigan Athletic, Three Sisters’ Racecourse and Inspiring healthy lifestyles.
Katie Shone, from Inspiring healthy lifestyles, said: “The dancers have worked hard all year and deserve this fantastic celebration event, bringing all the sessions together to become one dancing community.
“Well done to all of the dancers and a huge thank you to everyone who came, supported and donated. There was a record attendance and money raised this year, and it was fantastic to have other community groups attend the festival and allow them the opportunity to perform in such an amazing event.”
